Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest of the engineering
disciplines. The practice of mechanical engineering is often applied to manufacturing,
energy conversion, transportation, construction, and environmental control. The
curriculum begins with the study of chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer
science, and general engineering courses. As the students progress, they are able
to undertake advanced analysis, design, and laboratory courses related to mechanical
and thermal systems. The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering also
offers a co-op program.
