Has Always Been Part of the Curriculum at U.Va.
Thomas Jefferson had very forward-looking ideas about the curriculum
when he founded the University of Virginia in 1819. It included such
unconventional subjects for the time as mechanics, statics, dynamics,
pneumatics, acoustics, and optics.
