Thomas T. Baber
Associate Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering
Ph.D., University of Illinois

Dr. Baber has served on the faculty since 1980 and has published more than 40 technical articles and reports. He has designed numerous steel-reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete commercial and industrial structures. He serves as a consultant regarding industrial floor vibration. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Academy of Mechanics.

Research Interests
Thomas Baber specializes in structural dynamics and probabilistic methods, including structural reliability. His research interests include: random vibration of nonlinear structures under extreme natural hazards, field measurement of dynamic structural response, computational analysis of structural dynamic response under deterministic or stochastic loading, structural vibration mitigation using passive and active techniques, and stochastic models of cumulative damage. His current research centers on reliability assessment of structures for high-speed transportation systems.
