Robert G. Kelly
Associate Professor, Materials Science and Engineering
Director, SEAS Rodman Scholars Program
Ph.D., Johns Hopkins University

Dr. Kelly joined the University of Virginia faculty in 1990. He is the co-director of the Center for Electrochemical Science and Engineering. He has published more than 50 technical articles. Before Virginia, he conducted research at the Corrosion and Protection Centre of the University of Manchester, U.K., as a Fulbright Scholar and as a National Science Foundation/NATO postdoctoral fellow.

Research Interests
Robert Kelly's research focuses on the corrosion of metals and alloys in marine environments, non-aqueous and mixed solvents, stress-corrosion cracking, exfoliation, localized corrosion, and high-energy density batteries. His current work includes the electrochemical and chemical conditions inside localized corrosion sites in ferrous, nickel-based and aluminum alloys; atmospheric corrosion; and the development of microinstruments for corrosion monitoring.
