| Ellen J. Bass | | Assistant Professor, Systems and Information Engineering | | Ph.D., Georgia Institute of Technology | | | | Dr. Bass joined the faculty in 2002. She has authored or co-authored over 90 technical publications on modeling judgment and decision making, human-automation interaction, decision support systems, and training systems. She applies this research in the domains of air transportation, weather, bioinformatics, and healthcare. She serves as an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions of Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (Part A) and she is on the Board of Governors for the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society. She serves on the editorial board of Human Factors and she is an officer of the Cognitive Engineering and Decision Making Technical group of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. She serves as a contributing editor to the International Journal of Applied Aviation Studies. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and AIAA. Prior to joining the faculty at UVa, Bass was a research engineer for Search Technology. Before that, she was a systems engineer for IBM supporting air traffic control and military applications.
