| Alfredo Garcia | | Assistant Professor, Systems and Information Engineering | | Ph.D., University of Michigan | | | | Dr. Garcia received B.S. in electrical engineering from Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Colombia) in 1991; a Diplome d'Etudes Approfondies (DEA) in control systems from Universite Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France) in 1992; and a Ph.D. in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan in 1997. During 1996-99, he worked for the Colombian government’s Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission; and for Fundesarrollo, a think tank, in a number of public policy issues, including the deregulation of electricity and natural gas industries. He also taught courses in game theory, optimization and stochastic processes at Universidad de los Andes and Universidad del Norte (Barranquilla, Colombia). | | | | Research Interests | | Alfredo Garcia’s research interests include theoretical issues in dynamic programming and dynamic games; the economic regulation of network industries (electricity, gas, telecom); and the analysis of decentralized algorithms for complex network optimization.
