Engineers PRODUCED in Virginia
An Initiative of the School of Engineering and Applied Science

Prospective Students

To Apply
To enter the engineering science bachelor's degree portion of this program, students will need to complete an Associate of Science in Engineering degree (or equivalent) at their local participating community college. Students who earn an overall grade-point average (GPA) of 3.4 or higher (and the same overall GPA in their program's math, physics, and chemistry classes) in their associate degree program will likely be automatically admitted to the U.Va. portion of the program. Other students can apply for admission to the U.Va. portion of the program like any other student applying for admission to U.Va. Engineering degree programs. The detailed articulation (transfer) agreement can be found here.

Program Flexibility
Working? Have a family? No problem.

The PRODUCED in Virginia program is being established with the idea that enrolled students may be working and thus unable to pursue their degree full-time. Thus, students entering the U.Va. portion of the program will be able to complete the post-associate degree bachelor's over three years, during which they take no more than seven course credits at any one time. For more information and specific course offerings, visit our engineering science degree page.

Course Access
Depending upon the type of course (traditional course, laboratory activity, distance learning environment) students will be able to access classes from a variety of venues, including:

  • Local community college or higher education center
  • Home
  • Library
  • Anywhere with a high-speed Internet connection!

This flexibility allows students to work on course materials at their own pace and often at a time and in a place of their choosing.
