
Assistant
Professor Hilary Bart-Smith has been awarded a fellowship in Science and Engineering
from the Packard Foundation. The Foundation received 99 nominations from 50 invited
universities from which the Packard Advisory Panel selected 16 Fellows. The 5-year
fellowship begins in October 2003.
She was also recently selected as a University
of Virginia Teaching Fellow. That award recognized Professor Bart-Smith's enthusiasm
for teaching, the interesting nature of her course proposal, her view of research-teaching
interactions, and her department's support. The award carries a research grant
of $7,000 and the opportunity to participate in various activities designed to
develop and propagate the art of good teaching. [More]
