A public service announcement (PSA) or community service announcement (CSA) is a non-commercial advertisement typically broadcast on radio or television for the public good. PSAs can be a great way to advertise your event if your event meets certain conditions (i.e., is a fund raiser for a health or safety issue or will serve to communicate to attendees any message considered to be “helpful” to the public).
A PSA should be between 10 to 30 seconds long. Read it aloud to see how it flows, and if there are any difficult words, include a phonetic spelling in parethesis. Type PSAs in all caps, and send them to the public service announcer or radio stations of your choice. Lead time is three to four weeks. A list of local radio and TV stations can be found on the Contacts page.
