Invitations and postcards are the primary methods by which to let others know about your event. You may have a list of specific people you want to invite, or you may identify groups of people (i.e., all the students who live in X dorm, all of the people who live in Y retirement community) you think might be interested in your event. Visit the Contacts page for links to groups of people (retirement communities, for instance) who might be part of your potential audience.
You may design and print your invitation or postcard in-house, or you may want to get bids and hire the job out to an outside designer and printer.
Invitations should include the title of the event; the full name of noteworthy participants; the day, date and time of the event; and the sponsor name and/or logo. The invitation should also include a phone number and/or e-mail for recipients to call/write for more information or to RSVP.
