Alumni and their families enjoy Reunions Weekend 2005.

Dear valued U.Va. Engineering alumni,

Reunions Weekend - complete with old friends, engaging workshops and a picnic lunch at your alma mater - is rapidly approaching. This June 2-4, come home to U.Va., and enjoy a variety of fun and scholarly events hosted by the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

  • Join the School's faculty and your fellow alumni at a casual, picnic-style luncheon in Darden Court. Meet Dean Aylor and hear about his vision for the Engineering School, enjoy great food, touch base with professors, reminisce with old friends - and make new ones - at this fun, family event at noon on Saturday, June 3.

  • Learn all about "Engineering New Tissues: A New Frontier in Medicine." Scientists are re-creating the environment that encourages cell growth inside the body, offering patients access to living tissue - an option that radically expands healthcare alternatives for injuries and diseases from broken bones to diabetes. Join University Professor Cato Laurencin for a discussion on recent advances in this exciting and controversial field on Friday, June 2, at 3:30 p.m.

  • Find out if "Robots Are Watching." Join Professor Barry Horowitz in his laboratory for a demonstration of robot building surveillance systems and information exchange systems for highway safety on Saturday, June 3, at 11 a.m. (Transportation to and from the laboratory will be provided.)
