The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) at the University of Virginia sponsors of the award-winning "Juntos Podemos” (Together We Can) program. invites applications from Virginia high school students of Hispanic heritage. While our current focus is on schools in Northern and Tidewater Virginia, we welcome interest from students across the Commonwealth. The purpose of Juntos Podemos is to encourage and motivate Hispanic students to graduate high school prepared to pursue a four-year college degree in engineering, science or math.
Juntos Podemos begins in January with an informative presentation at selected high schools. Successful applicants will then begin a mentor relationship with U.Va.’s SHPE students. The main activity is attendance at the SEAS Engineering Open House, held in mid-to-late February, at which participants will be introduced to various disciplines of engineering and the University’s admission process. The participants will be hosted by their mentors in dorms and apartments.
No fee is required to participate in this program.
