Idealist.org

  • Idealist is a project of the nonprofit organization, Action Without Borders. It provides an interactive site for people to exchange ideas and resources and search for international volunteer, non-profit and internship opportunities.

Summer Engineering Experience in Development (SEED)

  • Engineering students and professionals are placed on team project sites in underserved communities, and work directly with local organizations with a need for people with technical knowledge and skill. Assignments are a minimum of three months.

Duke University - Engineering World Health

  • Engineering World Health (EWH) is a national organization that harnesses the resources of collegiate engineering programs for the improvement of conditions in hospitals of developing nations. In 2004, EWH partnered with Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering to create Duke-EWH, offering the Duke-EWH Summer Program and other activities.
  • Through Duke-EWH, engineers and engineering students assess the needs of hospitals in developing nations, assemble a container of refurbished medical equipment and donated supplies to meet needs, then return to the hospitals to install the equipment and train the staff in its use and maintenance.

Foundation for Sustainable Development

  • A non-profit organization that provides hands-on, service-learning internships and volunteer opportunities in the following areas: Micro-enterprise/Microfinance, Environment, Health, Youth & Education, Women’s Empowerment, Community Development, and Human Rights.

Dream Corps International

  • A non-profit organization dedicated to bettering the learning environment for students in disadvantaged communities in rural and urban China. Founded and run by overseas Chinese students and young professionals, Dream Corps engages volunteers from outside and inside China to work with local communities in building and promoting library as haven for fostering dreams in children.

Cross Cultural Solutions

  • A non-profit organization offering short-term international volunteer positions with over 250 sustainable community initiatives around the world.

i-to-i Foundation

  • A travel organisation that places over 6,000 volunteers annually on short-term projects to assist in the development of overseas local communities. Program duration: two to twelve weeks.

Unite for Sight

  • A non-profit organization that works to improve eye health and eliminate preventable blindness in developing communities around the world. Local and visiting volunteers work with partner eye clinics to provide eye care in communities without previous access, with the goal of creating eye disease-free communities.
