SEAS International Travel Grants
- The SEAS International Internship Travel Grants of $1500 each are awarded
in the spring of each academic year and are intended to offset travel expenses
for students who have secured a professional internship overseas.
- A professional internship is defined as a short-term work experience
whereby a student is engaged in productive specialized practice and they
receive appropriate remuneration for work performed. The work experience
should be directly related to the student's academic program and career
objectives. Please note: Students interested in securing financial aid
for global development opportunities should contact the SEAS International
Programs office.
- Application information is available through the Center for Engineering
Career Development.
- The 2009 deadline for grant applications is 12:00pm on Monday, April
13, 2009.
Parents Program Internship Grant
DAAD Undergraduate Scholarship (German Academic Exchange Service)
- Scholarships fund study, senior thesis research and/or internships in
Germany. Preference given to students whose projects or programs are based
at and organized by a Germany University.
Harrison Undergraduate Research Award
- The Center for Undergraduate Excellence is home to the Harrison Undergraduate
Research Award. The program funds outstanding undergraduate research projects
carried out in the summer or academic year. Forty awards of up to $3,000
each will be granted on a competitive basis to current first, second, and
third year undergraduate students. Applicants must be full time undergraduates
at UVa and must remain enrolled at the University through the completion
of their project.

Center for Global Health University Scholar Awards
- The University of Virginia's Center for Global Health has established
the CGH -University Scholar Awards to encourage UVa students to design
and carry out cross-disciplinary service learning projects in global health.
Health issues can be approached from a broad range of disciplines including
politics, biology, economics or foreign affairs.

Community Based Research Grant
- Community Based Research Awards for Undergraduates will provide opportunities
for students to develop research projects that apply their academic skills,
experiences, and ideas to real world problems. The grants are not limited
to a single academic field. Interdisciplinary work is encouraged. Student
researchers, under the guidance of a faculty advisor and in collaboration
with a community organization, will identify a project that addresses a
documented public need or issue. Student researchers will design a research
project, adopt and deploy a research methodology embedded in an academic
field(s), create a research product (paper, presentation, etc.) that benefits
the community organization and meets expectations of academic rigor as
agreed on by the faculty advisor and the student researcher(s).

The Center for Undergraduate Excellence
- The Center for Undergraduate Excellence advises students regarding undergraduate
research opportunities and national scholarships and fellowships. The Center
is located in the Harrison Institute/Small Special Collections Library,
next to Alderman Library. Students are encouraged to visit the Center throughout
their undergraduate careers.

Davis Projects for Peace
- Grants of $10,000 each awarded for individual or team grassroots projects
the promote peace anywhere in the world. One hundred projects chosen to
receive grants from among 90 American colleges and universities affiliated
with the Davis UWC-Scholars Program. Past projects include solar water
disinfection in Ecuador, solar energy project in Tibet, and teaching science
and health in Uganda.
