Foreign National (J-1s & H1s) arrival "check-in" documentation visits (Required) [DOC] - This information page identifies the Offices that must be visited upon arrival. This includes The Department Chair's Office, International Programs, the Social Security Office (if paid a salary or wages) and a visit to the UVa Tax Specialists (NOTE: a visit to the tax specialists applies only visitors sponsored on the J-1 visa. The visit, however, should not be made until the social security card has been received).
