Robin W. Mack
To periodically award individuals, who have given generously of their time and talent to the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the University of Virginia Engineering Foundation.
In this life more than ever, everyone needs a computer expert…those of us at the Engineering School have such a person who performs par excellence!
This man is so liked, that every sentence describing him in the many letters of recommendation for this award has words like excellent, highest, quickly, cheerful, efficiently, extremely, professional, competently, and the list goes on…don’t you wish you had this guy working for you!?
Robin has been described by his colleagues as an excellent listener and cheerful in nature…he is easy to get along with and a pleasure to work with on a project.
One female staff member in the School went so far as to say…and I quote, “I am very high maintenance, and he always quickly responds with a smile and much needed assistance!”
He is without a doubt, one of the best known people at the School because he has provided service to so many…and he does so in a very pleasant and positive manner.
To quote a past dean, “Robin was always unflappable, cheerful, ready to help at a moment’s notice, and extremely competent in providing the skills and knowledge needed to ensure IT excellence in the School. Whenever his name came up in conversations I had with colleagues at the Medical School, or the College, it was always with respect and praise for his professional skills and his outstanding personal qualities”
Perhaps the most telling of the respect everyone has for Robin is best shown by his IT co-workers…who seek him out when they need help.
It is with much appreciation that the School of Engineering and Applied Science honor Robin W. Mack by presenting to him the 2007 School of Engineering and Applied Science Distinguished Service Award.
