  • Wilsdorf Hall houses researchers in materials science, chemical engineering and nanotechnology.

  • It is 99,000 gross-square-feet and five stories high.

  • It contains direct links into the materials science and chemical engineering buildings.

  • A $15 million dollar lead gift for the building by Gregory H. Olsen, president was the largest ever received by the Engineering School.

  • Other funding was received from the family of Dave Matthews, and other private donors, including E. Lee (CE'58) and Janet C. Showalter.

  • The building is named in honor of the late Professor Heinz Wilsdorf, first chair of the Department of Materials Science, and his wife, the late Professor Doris Kuhlmann-Wilsdorf, University Professor of Applied Science.

  • It includes research laboratories, faculty offices, conference rooms, computational facilities and work-study areas.
