Hiring Criteria (human resources regulated)
This type of hire is needed for those that do not have student status and will be employed for only a temporary period of time. Its pay rate is assigned by UHR (but a suggested rate may be given). In addition to the pay rate the Department will be billed 16% (effective 7/1/10, includes fringe and administratrative fees from the HR Temp office). The employment is limited to 1500 effective on the first day of work and to extend no longer than the end of the current fiscal year, after which the hours will be reloaded. The 1500 hour policy must be considered in the scheduling of hourly work to prevent its exhaustion. When the hours are nearing the limit the employee must be notified of the position's potential termination OR a permanent salaried position will be created if the Dean of the School approves. It is renewable with permission from UHR. Hires are paid by submitting a completed timesheet to the Department's timekeeper. Students who attend a school other than UVA may fall into this category.
Dual Employment
If the expertise of a full time salaried staff employee is needed, you may consider dual employment as a temporary worker. Please have the dual employee request form completed and submitted to Phyllis M. Bibb. Further instructions will be given to the hiring official upon receipt of this form.
