Abstract: As average life expectancy in the developed world continues to increase, we also note the spiral growth in chronic diseases affecting people, especially the elderly. In particular, movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s Disease, impede the natural flow of bodily motion in millions of people within the United States. How can one effectively combat this erratic enemy? Years ago, the best engineering data one could hope for came via the patient’s memory and subjective physician observation. General practitioners and doctors would assess, diagnose, and offer treatment to the patient on the basis of their physical examinations or questionnaires filled out by the person or, in certain cases, journals kept by the subject. Today, there has been a great shift towards the continuous monitoring of the sufferer to quantitatively and accurately assess, characterize, and potentially better diagnose these patients. Thus, the war has seen the emergence of a new weapon, which has no counterpart. To reclaim the natural beat and rhythm in their lives we give you…T.E.M.P.O.
