SWE High School Visitation - a weekend preview visit
As part of their commitment to increase the representation of women in engineering, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at the University of Virginia invites female junior and senior high school students to spend a weekend on Grounds exploring majors and careers in engineering. The program includes informative speakers and hands-on activities to heighten interest in technology-related fields, opportunities to meet professors and students, and introductions to the nine engineering disciplines studied at U.Va. Participants will be housed in University dorms, and will be responsible for their transportation to and from U.Va., a small program fee, and for incidental/personal spending funds.
The High School Visitation Weekend is traditionally held on the last weekend of February as a part of the Engineering Open House. The applications for the weekend event are mailed out to the Virginia secondary schools in early January. A small fee is requested to cover the activities, meals and accommodations.
