Dean James H. Aylor has been a member of the University
of Virginia Electrical Engineering faculty since 1978 and
is currently a Louis T. Rader Professor. He served as Department
Chair for the Electrical Engineering Department from 1996
to 2003 at which point he became Associate Dean of Academic
Programs for the School of Engineering.
In 1993, Dean Aylor served as the President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society and from 1994-1996 he served as a Division Director of IEEE. He is a fellow of the IEEE and currently the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Computer, the flagship magazine that is received by more than 100,000 IEEE Computer Society members.
Dean Aylor received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia in 1968, 1971, and 1977 respectively.
