On-Grounds Interviewing

On-Grounds Interviewing (OGI) is coordinated by University Career Services (UCS) through Handshake, an online database listing full-time and internship opportunities.

Employers submit positions to OGI because they want to conduct first-round interviews with students on Grounds instead of on the phone or on company site. These companies are very interested in U.Va. students and want to spend a day on Grounds to meet potential interns and full-time hires.

Many employers of interest to engineering students choose to participate in OGI, including those from finance, consulting, technical fields, and Engineering-specific companies.

To see listings of employers participating in OGI, you must log in to Handshake and complete the OGI acknowledgenent when prompted.

Many employers who participate in OGI have early resume submission deadlines. In the fall, the first deadline usually takes place shortly after classes begin. For the spring semester, some deadlines may occur a few days before classes resume in January. Be sure to review the listings and deadlines early and often to ensure you do not miss an opportunity of interest.
