Center for Engineering Career Development
Welcome to the Center for Engineering Career Development (CECD) at the University of Virginia. We provide comprehensive career development services for all engineering students from first year through graduate level, including engineering alumni. Additionally, our office serves as a resource for information on industry trends, the job market and recruiting results for our students, employers, parents, and faculty.
CECD is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. If you need career-related assistance outside of office hours, take advantage of several 24-hour resources:

Drop by Thornton A115 during walk-in hours, or Rice 107 on Tuesdays between 3:00pm and 5:00pm for a resume or cover letter review or for quick tips and advice! Need longer than 15 minutes? Prefer a different time? Stop by Thornton A115 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a 30 or 60-minute appointment.
The University Career Center also offers walk-in advising assistance. Check the website for a list of times.
Use the Resume Career Prep Packet (available online to the left or as a printed handout at our office) to guide you as you draft and develop your resume. Visit us during walk-in hours (see above) or schedule an individual appointment for a resume review.
Resume Drop off
Drop off a draft of your resume, cover letter, and thank-you letters at A115 Thornton Hall and we promise to have it available for pickup by the end of the following work day! If you would like to review your resume in detail with one of us in person, schedule an individual appointment or have your resume critiqued during walk-in hours.
CAVLink is your resource for full-time jobs, part-time jobs, and internships posted by employers specifically for U.Va. students. All U.Va. students and alumni have access to the general job postings through the CAVLink system. Register for an account today, complete your profile, and upload your resume!
On-Grounds Interviewing Orientation
If you have not yet completed the On-Grounds Interviewing Orientation and are interested in taking advantage of the On-Grounds Interviewing program through CAVLink, plan to complete the orientation soon! The orientation can be found online and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Some employers will be coming on-Grounds to conduct presentations. Please check the University Career Center Calendar for upcoming employer presentations.
